  9. Legendary Bengali poet-novelist, Nabaneeta Dev Sen (81) has passed away in Kolkata on 7th of November. Besides a poet, novelist, columnist and writer of short stories and travelogues, Dev Sen was also known for her research on the Ramayana. She worked as a teacher at the Oxford University and the Colorado College in the US. She also taught Comparative Literature at Jadavpur University. She married Nobel laureate economist Amartya Sen in 1958. They got divorced in 1976. She won the Sahitya Akademi award in 1999 for her book ‘Naba-Nita’, and was also the recipient of the Padma Shri in 2000.
  10. The bilateral naval exercise named ‘Samudra Shakti-2019’ has been conducted between the Indian and the Indonesian Navies.
  11. Kumar Mangalam Birla has been conferred the ABLF Global Asian Award.
  12. Former Chief Election Commissioner Tirunellai Narayanaiyer Seshan has passed away in Chennai on 10th of November 2019. He was known for cracking the whip on money and muscle power in elections, and proved to be a nemesis for political parties. His work as CEC got an international recognition when he was given the Ramon Magsaysay award for 1996. He was the only one to hold the post of CEC for 6 years from 1990 to 1996 in the last 50 years. He is known as the Father of EPIC.
  13. Brazil hosted 11th edition of BRICS summit 2019 in its capital Brasilia from 13th to 14th November under the theme ‘BRICS: Economic Growth for an Innovative Future’.

  39. Lokpal Chairman Justice (retired) Pinaki Chandra Ghose launched the new logo for the apex anti-corruption ombudsman. As per law, the logo symbolizes how Lokpal protects and cares for the people of India by establishing justice. It is designed by Prashant Mishra, a resident of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.
