  1. Telugu poet Dr. K Siva Reddy has been awarded the prestigious Saraswati Samman 2018 for his collection of poetry titled ‘Pakkaki Ottigilite (Turning Aside While Lying Down)’.
  2. Suresh Chitturi, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Srinivasa Farms, has become the first Indian and Asian to be elected as Chairman of the International Egg Commission (IEC).
  3. The first-ever National Nutrition Survey have been conducted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and UNICEF between February 2016 and October 2018 to measure malnutrition. The key findings of the survey: nearly 10% of children in the age group of 5-9 years and adolescents in the age group of 10-19 years are pre-diabetic, 5% are overweight and another 5% suffer from Blood Pressure (BP).
  4. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has named an asteroid after Indian classical singer Pandit Jasraj.

  19. The Nobel Prize 2019 for Physics has jointly been awarded to three scientists – James Peebles, Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz – for their ground breaking discoveries about the evolution of the universe and the Earth’s place in the cosmos.
  20. The Nobel Prize 2019 for Chemistry has jointly been awarded to three scientists – John D. Goodenough, M. Stanley Whittingham and Akira Yoshino – for the development of lithium-ion batteries that we use in everyday life from mobile phones to electric vehicles.
  21. The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2019 was awarded jointly to William G. Kaelin Jr, Sir Peter J. Ratcliffe and Gregg L. Semenza ‘for their discoveries of how cells sense and adapt to oxygen availability’.
  22. Polish author Olga Tokarczuk has won the 2018 Nobel Prize in literature.
  23. Austrian author Peter Handke has been honoured with the 2019 Nobel Prize in literature.
  24. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has won the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his efforts to end his country’s long-running border conflict with neighbouring Eritrea.
  25. Indian-American Abhijit Banerjee, his wife Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer have jointly won the 2019 Nobel Economics Prize for their experimental approach to alleviating global poverty.

  73. The 35th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit 2019 started in Bangkok, Thailand. During 5-days summit East Asia summit (EAS) and Regional Comprehensive Economic Summit (RCEP) was also held.
  74. The Spanish capital city of Madrid will host the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 25) from 2nd to 13th December 2019. The decision was taken after Chile withdrew as host for the event due to the ongoing street protests.
